Superior Performance
The HyperLink HGLN-CAT5-HP 3-stage Lightning Protector provides superior lightning and surge protection for indoor and outdoor 10/100 Base-T Ethernet networks. Also compatible with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) devices, this unit provides protection to both Ethernet data pairs as well as the PoE DC power feed. The unit is not compatible with inverted polarity voltage PoE equipment.
In the data path, the first stage is comprised of a differential gas discharge tube. Stage two is a pair of current limiting series resistors and the final stage is a high speed, low capacitance diode clamp array. In the power path, the first stage is comprised of a differential gas discharge tube. Stage two is a pair of filter inductors and the final stage is a pair of bi-directional clamping diodes.
Cisco Compatible
This lightning surge protector is compatible with Cisco Aironet® 1100 and 1200 series access points, DC Injectors and other equipment supporting reverse polarity PoE pinouts.
EMI Noise Suppression
The HGLN-CAT5-HP features shielded RJ45 jacks. This along with the HGLN-CAT5-HP's metal housing helps reduce the effects of EMI interference.
Failsafe Architecture
The Advantage of the HGLN-CAT5-HP three stage surge protector design is the added level of protection due to its large power rating and safety due to its failsafe architecture. In the event of a catastrophic surge event, the series resistors will fuse and the shunt diodes will short. This will safely disconnect the line from the datacom equipment.
Hyperlink's CAT5 Lightning Protector is compatible with Wireless Access Points, Access Servers and Outdoor Routers that support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). A ground lug and terminal is provided directly on the lightning protector housing, providing superior grounding. A second ground and terminal is provided for strapping multiple units together.
For maximum protection from lightning on long cable runs, two HGLN-CAT5-HP's can be used -one at each end of the cable. Most PoE capable equipment is not protected from surges on it's CAT5 cable.
